GP Care Patient Pathway

Once you have seen your GP and discussed your urological problem or symptom, he/she will determine if you're eligible for the GP Care scheme, and whether you will follow fast-track (an appointment within 14 days) or a standard referral (an appointment within 28 days).

Once we have received the referral (usually on the same day as your GP visit) our clinic staff will contact you straight away to arrange an appointment, offering you a choice of venues: Clifton, Nailsea or Yate. Appointments can usually be organized within 14 days.

At your appointment, the clinician will talk to you about the procedure as it's being carried out. He/she will write a report for your GP detailing the outcome; this will be faxed to your GP within 24 hours, and you'll also be given a copy to take away.

If you need to be referred onto the hospital for treatment, our team will liaise directly with the relevant staff at the hospital of your choice. The hospital will then contact you directly with information on the next step of your treatment.

If the results of your investigation need to be analyzed, then the hospital will contact you in 4 weeks' time with the results. The hospital will take over your care once the investigations have been carried out and reported on, and will advise you on the next step for your treatment.
